Dr. Rani was raised in Alice and returned to her roots here in the coastal bend for her residency program and professional career. Being away for her education deepened her appreciation for the people and values of our communities in and around the Corpus Christi area.
After completing a rigorous honors program in 3 years at UT, Dr. Rani began her medical school training at one of the top medical schools in the country. Her decision to return to the coastal bend for her residency program was rooted in the belief that she needed her training to be immersed in the community.
In 2017, only 7 years after completing her residency in 2012, Dr. Rani opened our clinic, Rani Pediatrics. Dr. Rani is married and has two stepdaughters in college (one at Harvard and one at Dartmouth). Dr. Rani’s husband serves as the Business Administrator for Rani Pediatrics, keeping Rani Pediatrics grounded as a family owned and run facility.

Meet Dr. Punitha Jayaramaraju, M.D.
“Dr. Jay”
Board Certified General Pediatrics
Dr. Jay brings a top-rated academic background and the successful completion of two different residency programs that will further strengthen newborn care at Rani Pediatrics.
After ranking in the top 99.99% for the post-graduate entrance exams, Dr. Jay entered and completed an ObGYN residency at Stanley Medical College in Chennai, India. Upon graduation she became an assistant ObGYN at Joseph's Hospital.
After her son was born, and in coordination with her husband’s own medical career, her family moved to Florida. Rather than seek a U.S. residency program in ObGYN, Dr. Jay decided to complete an additional residency program in Pediatrics at the University of Florida. She continued with the university as an Assistant Professor for General Pediatrics. Her family moved to Corpus Christi in 2018 to make the coastal bend their permanent home.
Dr. Jay has a husband who works in Driscoll Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care, and a son who loves to come to the clinic to play with Darla and Jolene, the on-site comfort puppies.
